alcudia's beaches (Mallorca)

Platja Gran

Located in Puerto de Alcúdia, this fine white sand beach is 7-km long. It's the largest beach on the Balearic Islands stretching along Alcúdia bay. A place where Romans walked about in their togas and the vandals anchored their galleys. Now we find an extensive range of facilities; in the water (windsurfing, water slides, sausage rides, parasailing, catamarans, sailing boats, pedalos…) and on the beach where you can find plenty of open air bars, public toilets and showers, sun beds and parasols and much more. It's Alcúdia's largest beach, the most accessible, the one with the widest sport and fun facilities and the safest one. The water flows calmly and deepens gradually.

Alcanada

A peaceful, family and picturesque narrow beach covered with small pebbles, with crystal clear water. It is 200-metre long and an average width of 20metres. A small pine grove gives shade, scent and elegance to this heavenly place. This beautiful nook is crowned by the islet of Alcanada with a magnificent lighthouse that illuminates the outstanding nightfall. You can access the island, only 150 meters away from the seashore, wading if you know the way, or swimming.

Formentor

One of Mallorca's legendary beaches is Formentor beach, located 20 km away from Alcúdia. The trip to Formentor offers some of the best views on the island. After winding up into the craggy hills of the Serra de Tramuntana you'll arrive to this beautiful cove with extraordinary views over Alcúdia. The final spur of the Serra de Tramuntana shelters this place from the north wind as pine trees and holm oaks stand close to its golden sands and crystal clear water. At the end of the cove, in front of a tiny islet, stands the Hotel Formentor, which preserves the prodigious beauty of the old times, a hotel frequented by many leading celebrities.

Formentor beach is 900 metre long and divided in different sections. There's a rocky area, a pier and a sandy spot with many little coves all surrounded by pine trees.

You can also access this place by sea. Cruceros Brisas has a daily boat trip from Port d'Alcúdia.

Es Trenc

It's one of the longest and most known beaches on the island. Es Trenc is a sandy and scrubland area located in Campos, in the South of the island and just in front of the island of Cabrera.

Along this several kilometre-long beach you'll find many different atmospheres: families that come for the weekend, Spaniards, tourists, heterosexuals, homosexuals, nudists… Stop at this point, because Es Trenc is one of the main nudist beaches on the island. They usually gather in a specific area of this enormous beach. And among them there are also different groups.
